In 1998, Southland Gaming of the Virgin Islands, Inc. (SGVI), a Virgin Islands corporation, was selected to operate the Video Lottery Program for the Virgin Islands Lottery. SGVI has been authorized by the Virgin Islands Lottery as the exclusive contractor for the placement and operation of video lottery terminals and other gaming devices (i.e., slot machines) within various retail establishments, resorts, and entertainment centers throughout St. Thomas and St. John.
Southland Gaming Announces Crown Bay LocationThe newest addition to the growing Southland Gaming entertainment family, will be opening in Crown Bay plaza on St. Thomas.
A short stroll from the cruise ship docks, the location is the first of its kind to feature a full service bar, gaming and off-track horse racing.
"Visitors to St. Thomas are looking for new things to do, especially our many repeat guests. This center gives them the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful beaches, shopping and tours, then enjoy trying their luck before they re-board. Largest Gaming Center to Open on St. Thomas
Southland Gaming of the Virgin Islands, Inc. (SGVI), a Virgin Islands corporation, has announced plans to build the largest gaming facility in St. Thomas. The two-story entertainment complex opening third quarter 2008 in the Havensight cruise ship shopping complex will feature a full menu restaurant, full service bar, new and exciting games, and nightly entertainment.
Southland Gaming Vice President, Shaine Gaspard, is thrilled to bring this venture to St. Thomas. "With the huge popularity of video gaming in the States, this gaming center within steps of the cruise ships, will help attract visitors to St. Thomas and contribute substantial funds to the VI Lottery which funds our Education Department. This is entertainment for every type of traveler or resident."
