of St. Croix Culinary Event to Sizzle on April 13, 2006

- The sixth annual Taste of St. Croix culinary event is set
for April 13, 2006 and Hotel Caravelle is offering a special package for
the mouth-watering event. The hotels Cooked to Perfection Package
includes two tickets to the Taste of St. Croix culinary event,
breakfast for two daily at the award-winning Rumrunners seaside
restaurant, four-days, three-nights accommodations at Hotel Caravelle
and taxes. The Cooked to Perfection Package is $759, double occupancy,
and is valid starting April 11, 2006.
“Tickets to Taste of St. Croix are highly coveted,” said
Elsie Galloway, Manager of Hotel Caravelle, “The event attracts more
than 600 locals and visitors and, I would guess, there are a few hundred
more who would like to go, but tickets sell out quickly. This year we
were able to secure a limited amount of tickets for this package. We
anticipate the Cooked to Perfection package will sell very quickly.”
Restaurant owners Katherine Pugliese of Bacchus and Kelly
Odum of Tutto Bene started the Taste of St. Croix to showcase the
culinary innovation found on island. More than 60 different types of
wines were poured at the event in 2005 and guests included everyone from
locals to visitors from USA and Europe. In 2006, the event will expand
to earlier in the week with wine and special dinners at participating
restaurants.
The annual fundraising event raises more than $30,000 for the
St. Croix Foundation, a non-profit organization that works diligently to
revitalize the town of Christiansted. The event showcases the
gastronomic talents of more than 50 of the islands restaurants. In 2005,
Rumrunners, the waterfront restaurant located at Hotel Caravelle was
voted as the number one favorite for the third consecutive year. For
